I’ve been doing some editing over on Wikipedia since February this year. I started doing some edits to the existing ezboard entry firstly to remove the unsubstantiated bits and bobs and then to remove the advertising spin being applied to it by various ezboard staff and one user in particular calling himself “Regimemachine“.
I then realised that Yuku didn’t have its own entry, so I started one off. So conscious was I that it had to be unbiased and verifiable, that once I’d posted the original version another user wrote:
“Is this Spam? Looks like spam.”
But that was not to be the case, with the usual suspects trying to turn it into some form of advertisement for Yuku complete with unsubstantiated claims for user numbers and the like.
Now, bear in mind that Wikipedia states:
“Wikipedia is not an advertising service. Promotional articles about yourself, your friends, your company or products; or articles written as part of a marketing or promotional campaign, may be deleted in accordance with our deletion policies. For more information, see Wikipedia:Spam.”
and
“Encyclopedic content must be verifiable.”
you’d think that ezboard, Inc. wouldn’t have anything to complain about. But this is ezboard, so their employee writes amongst other things:
“See the discussion page. Every other software lists features. We have the right to do the same.) “
Er, no, you don’t, actually. If ezboard felt that other software entries were biased or advertising, they should dispute those articles’ contents. But no, instead of that, they decide to complain about me and claim I’m being biased.
“Regimemachine” - or “Reg” as I’ll call him from now on - seems upset that I’ve been using his made-up surname ’James’ as I’d wrongly assumed that the name he uses on Yuku and elsewhere (”Brian James”) might be his real name, but it’s not. Maybe he has something to hide?
He’s then used the mighty power of the Internet (or Google…) to try to dig a little deeper about me and then proudly spouts some more inaccurate information he’s managed to come up with. Ah well.
I am clearly - in his eyes at least - a nasty piece of work, unlike himself. After all, he’s a thoroughly nice chap, I’m sure. And the following hyperlinks are clearly misleading and inaccurate:
http://www.last.fm/user/regimemachine/ - which shows his “made-up” name of Brian James and a domain name he uses…
http://www.regimemachine.com/ - a domain name that’s registered so as to hide the identity of the registrant (much like http://www.ezboardsucks.com). Not much to see there … now. Instead, try seeing what used to be there.
http://www.google.com/search?q=+site:www.regimemachine.com - take a look at Google’s cached copies of some of the content that was there. Oh dear! That must all be mistake, surely? Well it appears he too is on Technorati.
http://technorati.com/profile/regimemachine - oh dear, oh dear! Surely that “regimemachine” can’t be our Reg? OK, so he too calls himself Brian James, but that must be coincedental? He lays claim to three blogs there: regimemachine.com, fuckthisporn.com and stopliving.com. I wouldn’t click through to stopliving.com if I were you unless you want to see some somewhat dodgy photographs…
Mind you, given the extent to which ezboard read this blog and act to try to hide what I mention here, I doubt it’ll be long before those sites and links either disappear or have the content replaced with fluffy kittens.

Nice, you’re stalking me now. I feel just tickled pink. Wow… you know how to use google. That’s seriously the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen.
Stopliving was a joke to a webmaster friend of mine. If you were responsible, would have attached a NSFW warning to it before linking it. I understand its disgusting, and since you’re now trying to link me to it through my job, I’ll take it down and probably replace it with your picture, photoshopped into some compromising positions.
Fuckthisporn.com (nsfw) is not a site that I own. It belongs to a customer of mine. He paid me 4 figures to make the site and obtain a PR rating for it. Which I did. I do a bit of free lancing on the internet for fun. I don’t support or even care for that sites content, so spin it if you will… but the free lancing that I take on my days off are really no business of yours.
Regime Machine was a blog that I did that featured cute myspace girls and rants about whatever. My girlfriend was even a girl that I featured. I took the site down out of boredom.
I few a more websites up and a few more free lances up as well. Including a celeb site that I’m working up for someone.
You’re not my first e-stalker, but you are the first guy to ever have an e-crush on me. So thanks.
Like I said before, if you want to be childish, you have that right, if you want to e-mail me and resolve your issues with ezboard, I can be reached at brian@ezboardcorp.com or.. you probably know my phone number, give me a call.

Hi Brian (or whoever you are),
I suggest you look at your post on the Wiki talk page where it appears “you started it”, if we’re going to get childish.
And of course there are those dubious server log entries…
So, is your Boss going to reply to my open letter post?
All the best,
Richard (Real Name…)

I don’t know how to tell you this man, but I’m not my boss. I don’t share a brain with him. I don’t know if you’ve tried to contact him or not, but maybe start there? I understand the office gets a 403 error when going to your site? When I was linked to it this morning, I couldn’t get the site to resolve.
Me looking up articles of your bias against ezboard is different then you using google to link my lastfm profile which has nothing to do with the wiki article.
I mean, I could be childish and start emailing your own customers with the smear campaigns you have against ezboard, which I’m sure don’t reflect your business in the brightest light, but that would be going way past what I’m paid to do.
I don’t know Rich, if you love me this much, then by all means, continue to stalk me. I must admit, I’m quite an adorable guy with amazing features and to die for wit.

Hi Reg,
I suppose at 2am your brain is going to get a bit over-taxed: maybe re-reading what I wrote would help you to understand it.
After all, the job ads. for Yuku/ezboard say that you all work together, so you could get Rob to come and reply fairly easy I’d have thought, given that he’s managed to comment here before.
Even I wouldn’t have tried to imply that you and he only have half a brain each, but hey! Maybe you two just don’t get on, despite your claimed amazing features and to-die-for-wit. When you’re ready to show us these features and wit, you’ll let us know?
And Reg, look again at your toy-throwing rant on Wikipedia where it’s clear that your Googling hasn’t just been for articles - and let’s face it, a smart guy like you would be able to find them easily, as they’re on less than a half dozen sites? And yet you try to say I’m stalking you!
Now, when you feel like getting Rob to start replying to my articles and the Open Letter in particular, you just go ahead. e-mail’s not the way despite you and your boss’s wish to keep everything under wraps.
All the very best,
Richard

That was an astonishing series of non sequiturs! Just because a group of people get along doesn’t mean I’m going to tell my boss what to do, smart guy. I’m very proud of you that you actually know that two seperate human bodies cannot share a brain. Is there anyother worthless point you care to waste an entire paragraph over Richard? See because now you’re just arguing about your own deranged nonsense and trying to dig your way out of this very sad hole you’ve dug.
Listen, the issue was your bias against ezboard in relation to wikipedia. It wasn’t what you could find about me on Google, stalker. That argument has already been shot down like a Dick Cheney dove.
You can try and back pedal all you want.
You can try to airclaim any detail you want.
But the fact remains.
You’re trying to spin whatever stupid detail you can get your little hand on with this deranged and failed troll.
See here are the facts Richard.
I Googled your rants against ezboard to help build a case that you’re a non-objective editor in the yuku/ezboard wikis. Which is true, and sadly, you’re proving it without me really even needing to do anything.
You Googled my username because you saw my avatar on Yuku and fell in love. I mean that’s the only justification I can see. IF I threw my “toys out of the ‘prattle’” then you’ve just thrown the whole prattle out of the day care, kiddo.
There’s nothing wrong with that, I’m just stating the facts here.
If you’re going to ban the ezboard IP address then don’t expect a reply to this so called “Open Letter”, afterall… your open letter … isn’t much…. of an open letter after that. Now is it Richard?
I’ve seen this same song and dance Richard. Like I said, if you want a resolution, e-mail me (brian@ezboardcorp.com), if you’d rather I come here and laugh at your wacky air claims then by all means, “go crazy”.

Wow! Now that’s what I call ranting and raving!
When you eventually calm down, then try and tell the difference between the Yuku/ezboard Wikipedia entries and this blog.
Clue: when I remove your blatant advertising attempts and unverified claims without backup - sorry, I know the word “backup” isn’t something you’re familar with - what I have left are the facts, not your version of what you’d like them to be. Anyone else in the real world can see that my edits lack bias, unlike yours of course.
My own blog here is where I can freely show ezboard up for the failed timelines, failed promises and double-talk you’re all so good at.
As for IP issues you have, why not simply continue using the IP cloaking/anonymiser service you’ve been using so much recently to get around it? Of course - I forgot: you already have…
As you are well aware, you and your colleagues including Rob Labatt have been reading both version of this blog for some time now - Rob even commented before the Open Letter was published!
Oh and why should I waste my term e-mailing you when you are just a developer there? I’m only interested in dealing with the organ-grinder and not his monkey. You know, someone who actually has any clout within ezboard, Inc.

Beggers can’t be choosers chum! You craze attention like a deranged ex-girlfriend, so I figured I’d humor you.
Anyway Richard… when you sober up from the delusion based brain flaw that just might be what’s forcing you to obsess and stalk the company I work for during every waking minute (quite literally STALK) of what appears to be a very a lonley life, you can contact me to resolve your issues with ezboard.
Until then… if this is the life you choose to lead, then just know, someone out there… somewhere… really feels sorry for you.

Hey RegM, just to let you know, more people are reading this blog for ages now and really, writing about the bads of a company is not stalking, y’know. It’s called consumer rights and I’ve seen others write similar things. Why don’y you try to answer Morris’ open letter to Labatt? At least some of the issues I’m sure you can resolve starting from there. Are you perhaps afraid to make relevant statements about ezboard or yuku, outside the party line, as ezboard employee? Email or blog, don’t see the difference personaly in this case.
September 13th, 2006 at 11:33 am
Reg,
I already have your attention and that of your boss, despite the fact that he’s too embarrassed to come and answer the points I’ve raised here, especially in relation to the more than dubious actions from people using his company’s connectivity.
As for stalking, you’re the one who needs some help with what appears to be OCD: if anyone takes a look at your Yuku profile page they’ll see that you refer to your ‘friends’ there as stalkers too. Weird and frankly a bit scary.
Like I’ve written here - over and over, but you don’t want to read it - when Labatt is ready to come and explain away all the misinformation, missed deadlines and dodgy happenings, he’s free to do so.
But you are only fueling your own delusional state by thinking that you have any clout within ezboard, Inc. - leave that to the bosses, eh? You couldn’t resolve any issues I have with ezboard even if you wanted to! You’re probably better off trying to get Yuku to work properly - after all, you’ve been working on it for - what? - nearly two years now and it’s still only at an early beta stage at best with more bugs than an entomologist’s display cabinets.
All the very best,
Richard
